Recently I had the amazing opportunity to present my work in The Brickworks Studio in Burnham-On-Sea along side Matt Bartlett and Ryan Trower.

My Bio:

The liberality of art consistently allows me to explore life, humans the mind and body in many ways. I am currently studying a Foundation Diploma and throughout my work within and out of college I create imagery to make sense of the strange world we live in challenging aspects such as, gender, sexuality and our human vessel. Using every inch of my creativity to communicate and challenge the world around us. I feel this has a massive impact on me as an artist, who I surround myself with and who I don’t – humans are interesting but incredibly destructive. Which is why I chose to present the topic of ‘Consent’ and the significance of consent within sexual activity. A body should be respected and appreciated, and consent allows this beauty to take place. It’s important that consent is educated, and I hope to raise awareness throughout this piece of work. Using imagery of photography exposing boobs in a fishnet top, inspired by the ’free the nipple movement‘, educating to desexualise breasts. Along with embroidered pants, bra and boxers with ‘no means no’ and other consensual slogans which are incredibly important to removers in our society. Finally, with my hand painted blue and pink bra and pants painted on a sheet of cotton fabric to resemble a bedsheet print all hung on pink washing line. As clothes do not mean consent, what someone is wearing isn't an automatic yes, on a washing line it takes the clothes away from the human seeing the clothes in their ‘raw form’. I hope to keep challenging ideas surrounding the body further within my university work, as I will be studying Fine Art. However, the university is undecided just yet. The interdisciplinary opportunities a Fine Art course hold will expand my horizons as an artist, pushing my practice and thought processes more.
